Neitzel Family Endowed Student Awards in Louisiana Studies

Deadline Approaching: May 31st

The Neitzel Family Endowed Student Awards in Louisiana Studies recognizes outstanding student scholarship in any field related to Louisiana Studies, including but not limited to history, folklore, languages, music, geography, anthropology, archaeology, literature, architecture, and the visual arts.

Two awards will be given: one for undergraduate-level student work and one for graduate-level. To be eligible, students must have completed the scholarly work during the most recent academic year (Fall 2018-Spring 2019), inclusive of the preceding summer (2018). The winners will receive a certificate and a $300 check in recognition of their work.

To apply send an abstract of no more than 250 words to the below email address no later than May 31, 2019. The abstract should include an overview of the topic of the scholarship, a statement on how it relates to Louisiana Studies, an indication of the semester and for which UL Lafayette course the work was completed, and contact information for the applicant. It should also indicate whether the applicant is an undergraduate or graduate student. Traditional written papers should be attached to the application email in PDF format; applicants for non-traditional scholarship should provide some form of documentation or include directions to access such documentation online or elsewhere.

Award winners will be announced on June 5th, 2019.
