Louisiana Studies Awards, Grants, and Professorships

The Center for Louisiana Studies administers or is involved in administering 
the following prestigious awards in the area of Louisiana Studies: 

• The James William Rivers Prize in Louisiana Studies
  • Major annual award for extraordinary contributions to the field of Louisiana Studies
• The Burdin Professorship in Louisiana Studies
  • Prestigious university-wide professorship at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. 
• The Neitzel Family Endowed Student Awards in Louisiana Studies
  • Recognizes outstanding student scholarship in any field related to Louisiana Studies.
• The Jamie Guilbeau and Thelma Guilbeau UL Lafayette Collections Research FELLOWSHIP
  • Research Fellowship in the amount of $500 for a researcher who is a faculty member, staff member, or graduate student at UL Lafayette; for research using specific UL collections
• The Jamie Guilbeau and Thelma Guilbeau UL Lafayette Collections Research GRANT
  • Research Grant in the amount of $2,000 for a researcher who is not a faculty member, staff member, or student at UL Lafayette; for research using specific UL collections
• Frank de Caro Memorial Undergraduate Award in Folklife Field Research and Media Documentation
  • Research Award for undergraduate student at UL Lafayette to conduct folklore and folklife fieldwork in the field of Louisiana Studies for an academic year
